Are your systems ready for the March 11th Daylight Savings Time change?
A new provision of the Energy Policy Act, enacted in 2005 and intended to reduce energy consumption, extended Daylight Savings Time beginning in 2007. Beginning this year, DST will start three weeks earlier and end one week later – from the second Sunday in March until the first Sunday in November. (In the past, it began on the first Sunday in April and ended on the last Sunday in October.)
This change could potentially cause errors in technology applications that involve calendaring, scheduling, date stamping, and synchronizing functions.
Most software vendors have been updating their products and issuing patches and fixes for older products that may be affected. As always, WebHostNY has made every effort to install any necessary patches and fixes and update critical software. We are confident that any disruptions will be minimal.
If you have concerns about whether any aspect of your web hosting may be affected, please get in touch with your WebHostNY representative as soon as possible.
If you do experience any difficulties with your hosting account on Monday, March 12th, please make sure there are no issues on your end before requesting urgent support. Please be aware that if there are unforeseen problems, we may be very booked up, and we will do our best to respond as soon as we can.
